Despite rumors linking Alberto Del Rio to WWE following the company’s acquisition of AAA, insiders say there’s no truth to the story. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE inherited Del Rio’s AAA deal, sparking speculation about a potential return. However, Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp shut the rumors down completely, calling it “the most debunked thing we’ve ever had.”
Sapp confirmed that no one within WWE is discussing Del Rio or planning his return, and the idea has been recycled countless times without basis. While chants for Del Rio have been heard at AAA shows, WWE reportedly sees no upside in reviving ties with the controversial former champion.
