Chris Jericho’s ongoing absence from AEW television since April finally has an explanation—he’s simply been given time off. Fightful Select reports that Tony Khan still values Jericho and plans for him to return, but his absence has only fueled speculation that he’s preparing for a WWE comeback.
Jericho’s newly announced Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea 2026 has no AEW branding or talent listed, which fans and insiders like Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer see as a clear signal of distance between Jericho and AEW. Meltzer added that WWE sources believe Jericho is likely heading back for a retirement tour and Hall of Fame induction.
With his current AEW deal set to expire at the end of 2025, Jericho may be quietly preparing his next chapter—and it could take him back where it all began.
