Kamille’s AEW Absence Linked to TV Project, Not Backstage Drama

Kamille has been absent from AEW television for over six months, leading to speculation that backstage heat—particularly involving Mercedes Moné—may have caused the break. However, a new report suggests a very different reason for her extended time away.

According to Fightful Select, Kamille is currently working on a new television project, which is expected to keep her off AEW programming well into the summer.

“Those close to Kamille have been very quiet about her time off, which has exceeded six months. However, based on what we’ve heard, she won’t be back soon, but for a better reason.”

The report further notes that AEW talent had little to no insight into her disappearance, with one source stating that people backstage were "in the dark" about her absence.

This new information challenges previous speculation, including comments made by Disco Inferno on Keepin It 100. Disco claimed Kamille may have overstated WWE's interest in her to negotiate a better AEW deal, leading to heat with AEW officials:

“That’s all the information I know, is that they found she was kind of—I’d heard that she was being dishonest in her dealings with them, trying to secure a contract.”

Kamille was last seen on AEW Rampage in November 2024, where she was taken out in a backstage segment that quietly wrote her off TV. At one point, there had been discussions about a potential match with Mercedes Moné, but sources now say Tony Khan didn’t feel the partnership was working, despite Moné being open to the idea.

“It was clarified by a number of sources that Mercedes was willing to work with Kamille, and do a match, but that didn’t happen.”

Kamille still has time left on her AEW contract and has only made one indie wrestling appearance since her TV exit. She's remained visible at fan conventions and autograph signings, but her immediate future is firmly tied to her new, yet-to-be-revealed television project.

“As of now, it appears she’s been benched the last six months, but will be out working a television project this Summer.”
