WWE isn’t backing down from its plans for Jey Uso, despite the massive online backlash following his World Title opportunity. After winning a battle royal on the October 20 episode of RAW, Jey earned another shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but fans didn’t react well. The YouTube video of his victory drew over 90,000 dislikes compared to just 15,000 likes.
According to Fightful Select, WWE officials are not concerned about the dislike ratio and reportedly don’t view it as a legitimate metric, since dislikes can only be seen through third-party extensions. Sources said the company has no plans to change creative direction, and the storyline is moving forward as planned.
Jey Uso is now set to face CM Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned. Despite fan frustration, WWE is sticking with its long-term vision.
