NJPW Retains Bullet Club Ownership but Allows Limited Use Across Promotions

The Bullet Club’s presence across multiple promotions has raised questions about who owns the brand—and according to Fightful Select, New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) retains full intellectual property rights to the Bullet Club name and concept. However, NJPW has historically allowed certain wrestlers and companies to use it under controlled conditions.

Talent with prior Bullet Club ties often receive creative freedom to reference or revive the name, explaining how Jay White formed Bullet Club Gold in AEW before the group rebranded as the Bang Bang Gang. Still, no one outside NJPW can market official Bullet Club merchandise without the company’s approval.

During WWE Crown Jewel: Perth, John Cena even referenced the group in his special introduction for AJ Styles, calling him “the ace and undisputed boss of the Bullet Club.”
