Jade Cargill’s shocking heel turn on Tiffany Stratton during WWE SmackDown from Tempe, Arizona, has drawn criticism from Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer and Garrett Gonzales, who called it “too obvious” and lacking subtlety. After saving Stratton from an attack by Kiana James and Giulia, Cargill turned on her moments later, viciously assaulting the champion and posing with the WWE Women’s Title.
Meltzer argued WWE should have gone the other way, saying Stratton is “a more natural babyface” and noting that WWE’s determination to justify signing Cargill from AEW is driving her title push. He also compared her to Bianca Belair, stating Belair “laps her in every category,” while adding WWE is “so determined not to make it look like they made a mistake with Jade, they’re going to give her that title.”
