According to a new report from Cory Hays and Viper of BodySlam.net, WWE is reportedly considering shifting the 2025 Draft to the fall, breaking from its traditional springtime schedule that usually follows WrestleMania.
Historically, WWE holds its annual Draft event in the spring, using it as a post-WrestleMania roster reshuffle for RAW and SmackDown. However, the latest backstage talk suggests that this year’s shake-up could be delayed until after SummerSlam, likely to align with the company’s September season premiere episodes on television.
“The last I heard about the WWE Draft was that they have been considering doing it post-SummerSlam, most likely as a tie-in to the season premiere episodes in September,” the report stated.
If this plan holds, WWE would allow its current major summer storylines to wrap up properly before executing a major roster reset in the fall. With SummerSlam 2025 set for August 2-3, the draft would likely occur soon afterward—possibly giving WWE a fresh start heading into the important fall TV season.
The report also mentions that there hasn’t been a pressing need for a roster shakeup lately. With ongoing long-term storylines and recent NXT call-ups, WWE's creative direction has remained consistent. However, a post-SummerSlam draft would give the company a timely opportunity to reboot its narratives.
While the final decision and date remain unconfirmed, insiders believe this fall timeframe is the frontrunner as WWE looks to boost its fall programming and ratings.
