Danhausen’s return at ROH Final Battle 2024 was supposed to mark a new chapter—but it may have quietly become his farewell.
After his surprise late 2024 appearance at Final Battle, the beloved and quirky star hasn’t been seen on AEW or ROH programming since. Now, his contract is set to expire in July 2025—unless AEW decides to extend it due to his previous injury time. However, insiders suggest that option is unlikely.
According to Fightful Select, although Danhausen was told after his Final Battle appearance that he’d likely be worked back into storylines, no creative plans ever materialized.
Backstage sources noted that Danhausen was warmly received by the roster and staff during his return and was under the impression he’d soon be featured on TV again. But after Final Battle ended, communication reportedly went silent. When Danhausen or his team followed up, he was informed that he wasn’t being brought to television that week, and no updates followed.
“We’ve not heard of any plans for Danhausen on TV,” Fightful Select reported.
As of now, there’s been no indication that AEW plans to offer him a new contract or extend the current one. With months of inactivity and no creative direction, some feel the decision has already been made behind the scenes to quietly let the contract lapse.
For fans, it’s a frustrating turn. Danhausen, known for his bizarre humor and cult following, returned to a big pop—only to be seemingly left on the shelf once again. What was meant to be a fresh start may end without closure.
If AEW doesn’t act soon, they could lose one of wrestling’s most unique and marketable personalities without ever giving him a proper send-off. With July fast approaching, Danhausen’s cursed charm might be headed elsewhere.
