#ESPN’s major gamble on #WWE content may already be backfiring.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, ESPN Unlimited’s subscriber growth from WWE’s $325 million-per-year partnership isn’t living up to expectations. WrestlePalooza reportedly added just 100,000–125,000 subscribers, generating an estimated $35 million per year in value—far below ESPN’s massive investment. Meltzer called it a “very bad number,” comparing it to Peacock’s early WWE struggles and noting that ESPN may be losing big money in the short term to build long-term growth.
