Danhausen’s AEW Contract Quietly Extended Through 2026 Despite No Creative Plans And Wanting To Leave

Danhausen’s AEW future just got longer—but not necessarily brighter. According to Fightful Select, his contract, originally set to expire July 1, 2025, has been quietly extended by AEW, now carrying him deep into 2026.

Despite being absent from programming for most of 2024, aside from a lone ROH appearance, the “Very Nice, Very Evil” star remains under contract but without any current creative direction. Reports note that Danhausen did not want AEW to pick up the option and was prepared to leave after barely being used the past couple of years.

Sean Ross Sapp also revealed a past miscommunication regarding Danhausen’s availability due to a private family matter, which AEW misread as him shifting back to indies. While he remains a beloved figure and strong merch seller, his future in AEW seems uncertain outside of paperwork.
