Goldberg’s recent frustration over his WWE retirement match presentation has caught many off guard—including Ariel Helwani, who hosted the farewell segment. On Busted Open Radio, Helwani admitted he was surprised by Goldberg’s attitude, suggesting emotions from a recent personal loss may be influencing his response.
While Helwani defended Goldberg’s right to feel disappointed, he also speculated that the entire situation could be a “work,” setting up Goldberg’s potential AEW debut. Helwani floated the idea that Goldberg may be playing the long game, possibly preparing to appear on AEW programming with a storyline about being “screwed” by WWE.
Goldberg has previously teased working Sting’s retirement match in AEW. Now, some believe this outburst could be the first chapter of that next move.
